Discover the Heart of Local Creativity: Whatcom Artist Studio Tour Returns October 2025

The vibrant pulse of Whatcom County’s art scene comes alive this fall as the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour returns for its 31st year, inviting art lovers, collectors, and curious minds to explore the studios of over 40 local artists. This free, self-guided tour takes place over two weekends: October 4–5 and October 11–12, 2025 10 am to 5pm daily, offering a rare opportunity to step inside the creative spaces where inspiration becomes art.

From painters and sculptors to glass artists and fiber weavers, the tour showcases a diverse array of mediums and styles. Visitors will have the chance to meet the artists, learn about their processes, and purchase original works directly from the makers.

To kick off the fall season, the Dakota Art Gallery is hosting a Group Show, which is already open now at 1322 Cornwall Ave, Bellingham. This preview exhibition features selected works from participating studio tour artists, offering a curated glimpse into the talent and vision that will be on display during the October tour. The show runs until October 25th and is a perfect way to plan your studio visits.

Sometimes, art speaks louder together. At the current Whatcom Artist Studio Tour Group Show at the Dakota Art Gallery, a striking trio of pieces has come together by chance—but with undeniable resonance.

“The Pendulum Swings, That’s Gonna Leave a Mark” by Marci Rheinschild

“Disenchantment” by Tom Ferry (collaboration with Rebecca Danger)

“Vote, While It’s Still Legal” by Marci Rheinschild

Though unplanned, these works form a powerful visual and emotional dialogue—challenging, timely, and deeply moving. Come see how they speak as one.

“The Studio Tour is more than an art event—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and connection,” says the organizing team. “It’s a chance to see behind the scenes, to understand the stories behind the work, and to support local artists in a meaningful way.”

New for 2025! WECU members can enjoy 10% off art purchases during the tour dates—just look for the WECU10 tag in the brochure to find participating artists.

Maps and brochures will be available throughout Bellingham and Whatcom County. For those unable to attend the tour, many artists offer studio visits year-round by appointment.
