WTA Increases Bus Service for Ski to Sea Sunday
On Ski to Sea Sunday, May 24, 2026, Whatcom TransportationAuthority (WTA) will offer buses every 10 minutes between Downtown Bellingham Station and Fairhaven Amtrak Station bringing riders straight to the finish line excitement at Marine Park and other Fairhaven activities.
Racers and spectators will be able to beat the crowds by taking advantage of WTA’s frequent service on the Route 1:
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Every 10 minutes
5:00 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.: Every 15 minutes
Outside of these times, Route 1 will run on its regular Sunday schedule. Route 14 and Route 105 will also connect riders between Downtown Bellingham Station and 12th Ave & McKenzie in Fairhaven.
Riders are encouraged to catch a connecting bus from their neighborhood to Bellingham Station or take advantage of free parking at the Commercial Street Garage, Railroad Avenue Garage, Depot Market Square, and on-street locations. For those combining a bike and bus trip, Ski to Sea is also offering a free bike valet at the entrance to Marine Park.
“With buses going directly to Fairhaven Station, participants and spectators will have an easy way to get to the finish line without worrying about traffic or parking,” said Aurielle Buermann, Ski to Sea Race Director.
“With limited parking in Fairhaven and large crowds expected, these additional transit options will help make race day more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
”Fares are $1 per trip, and everyone 18 and under rides free. WTA accepts cash, all valid bus passes, and offers the Umo mobile app for digital fare payment. For trip planning, riders can track their bus in real time using the Transit app, available on iOS and Android.
